Restore Inner West Line condemns Transport for NSW, Sydney Trains and the NSW State Government over its continual denial regarding the significant commuter impact of the Inner West Line truncation (to Homebush) and removal of regular Liverpool via Regents Park train services in 2013.
It is apparent that Transport for NSW continues to cover up the removal of the Inner West Line/Liverpool via Regents Park train services for the following stations: Flemington, Lidcombe, Berala, Regents Park, Sefton, Chester Hill, Leightonfield, Villawood, Carramar, Cabramatta, Warwick Farm and Liverpool
Stations between Berala and Carramar have lost direct City/Inner West services on the Inner West Line and must interchange at Birrong, Lidcombe (and Strathfield) to travel along the Liverpool via Regents Park route.
Transport for NSW and the NSW State Government is to be condemned for suggesting that the ability to travel from Berala and Carramar to the City on Bankstown Line is a credible trade off is reprehensible.
For stations between Berala and Carramar travelling to City via Bankstown is slower than on the former Inner West Line/Liverpool via Regents Park route.
Example: Berala to Central/City
Berala: 7:41am - Central: 8:17am [36 minutes]
Via Bankstown Line post 2013 timetable change (Inner West Line cut/removed Liverpool via Regents Park)
Berala: 7:24am - Central: 8:13am [49 minutes]
Also the Bankstown Line between Sydneham and Bankstown is scheduled for a complete shutdown from late 2018 onwards due to the construction of the Sydney Metro, eliminating all possibility of direct City train services for stations between Berala and Carramar unless the Inner West Line/Liverpool via Regents Park is restored.
