Letter to MPs

Dear Member of Parliament

We ask for your attention to the lack of train services for South Western Sydney as this matter impacts upon the sustainable growth and development of our city.

The Sydney Trains' timetable introduced on 20 October 2013 is by far the worst downgrade South Western Sydney commuters between Liverpool & Bankstown to City via Regents Park have seen in many decades. Terminating the Inner West Line at Homebush station has resulted in:
  • Over 80% of Train Services Cut between Lidcombe and Liverpool via Regents Park
  • Up to 3 Additional Interchanges at Birrong, Lidcombe & Strathfield
  • Increased Travel Times
  • Increased Overcrowding on trains into the city as 1 train line from SW Sydney removed
  • Lack of Access to the Inner West - disconnection at Lidcombe - Homebush
  • Lack of Frequent Train Services with only 2 per hour
  • No direct Liverpool to City via Regents Park
  • No direct Bankstown to City via Regents Park
  • Increased Traffic Congestion especially for major arterial and local roads around Flemington (Arthur St/Centennial Drive)
The commuters of the Inner West, West and South Western Sydney suburbs request the restoration of the Inner West Line for all stations between Homebush and Liverpool. The restoration of the Inner West Line with services to pre-October 20, 2013 levels such as a direct train from Liverpool (and Bankstown) via Regents Park/Lidcombe to the City Circle.

Our petition is the first of many which is calling for the restoration of the Inner West Line with the reinstatement of the Liverpool (and Bankstown) to City via Regents Park train services. www.change.org/p/restore-inner-west-line-liverpool-bankstown-to-city-via-regents-park.
We ask for your party's policy response and assistance to Restore Inner West Line.
