The government's Sydney Metro West link between Sydney CBD and Parramatta via Bays and Olympic Park reflects a lack of holistic planning and creates another transport black hole for the Lidcombe-Bankstown areas.
Transport for NSW's claims that the project will reduce overcrowding on the Western Line is to be treated with skepticism and caution noting that this was the same reasons for cutting the Inner West Line in half and removing the Liverpool/Bankstown via Regents Park train service in 2013.
The Inner West Line (Liverpool/Bankstown via Regents Park) should be restored or the Sydney Metro should be extended to connect Bankstown to Licombe/Olympic Park replacing existing T3 Bankstown (to Lidcombe/Cabramatta) and T7 Olympic Park line tracks.

If the Metro is not extended to cover this north-south gap between Bankstown and Lidcombe/Olympic Park:
The Liverpool/Bankstown via Regents Park train should be reinstated on the Inner West Line.
The Parramatta Light Rail should have a new branch from Olympic Park to Lidcombe and/or bus services from Lidcombe/Auburn to Olympic Park/Silverwater should be increased.
